Potty Training Progress!

Today, Noah finally uttered the words, "Mommy, I need to go pee pee!!"  He had actually already peed/pooped in his pull-ups, but he kept saying he needed to go pee pee, so I put him on the toilet anyway, and he continued to pee and poop.  This was also the first time he'd ever pooped on the toilet.  So exciting.

On to the details...

I had put potty training on hold for a while because it was just too much to deal with since we'd just moved and moved Noah into a big boy bed.  This past month was all about moving & unpacking, and keeping Noah in his big boy bed.  We're still working on both of those things, but we've made some good progress.  I bought some pull-ups at Costco last week, and Noah has been wanting to wear the Lightning McQueen diapers, so I decided to try again.  He actually has been peeing pretty consistently in the toilet around bath time/night night time, but throughout the rest of the day either I forget to ask him, he forgets, or he doesn't want to go.  But this past week he's finally shown more concern about "keeping Lightning McQueen clean and dry."  This is how I've been trying to motivate him to use the potty.  He has real concern from Lightning McQueen when we are talking about it, but hasn't really wanted to take the time to follow through.  On Thursday he made some progress at school, actually telling his teacher that he had to go when she asked.  Since then he's been more vocal about wanting his diaper changed and showing concern about soiling his diapers.  This morning at church, he didn't quite tell the Sunday school teacher he needed to go, but after he'd peed already in his diaper, he told the teacher he wanted me to change his diaper, so they paged me to come to the classroom.  This afternoon there was poo coming down the pipes but I think he wasn't quite sure when it was coming so every time he thought it might be, he kept asking to get his diaper changed.  Finally the poo came, and after hearing him yell, "Mommy, I need to go pee pee!!" from downstairs, I came down to find him squatting in front of the bathroom door, pooing already.  Eventually I got him to go into the bathroom and sit on the toilet, and he continued to poo a bit more, and he peed, like he said he needed to.

Overall, it's been a good day for potty training!  I really feel like Noah figured out a lot about the pee/poo/toilet process today.  I'm hoping for more progress this coming week!!  Can it be that he might be out of diapers soon???
